Iowa gained ground in February Rural Mainstreet Index
Iowa’s February Rural Mainstreet Index rose to 40.4 from January’s 38.2. The Creighton University index is ranges from 0 to 100 points. Iowa’s farmland-price index increased to 45.9 from 36 in January. Iowa’s new-hiring index dipped to 54.5 from 55.1 in January. In the 10-state region, more than one-third of bankers said their local economy was in recession. The overall index for the area was 37, up from 34.8 in January. It was the sixth straight month it was below growth neutral.
