122 wordsAll Latest News, Economic DevelopmentThe Iowa Leading Indicators increased 0.4 percentage points to 108.2 in October from 107.8 in September. For the first time since December 2010, all eight components of the index contributed positively to the index. Among those components, average manufacturing hours, the new orders index, the Iowa stock market index and residential building permits were the largest contributors. The annualized six-month change increased to 3.0 percent in October from a revised 1.7 percent in September. Notably, average weekly manufacturing hours were 43.4 hours, almost two hours above October 2016 and the 20-year monthly average of 41.6 hours, a level not seen since December 1997. The increase likely reflects the state’s low unemployment rate and increasing demand for manufacturing output, according to the report.
