Iowa liquor sales up 3.7%, with Tito’s topping the list

150 wordsAll Latest News, Economic DevelopmentTito’s Handmade Vodka was the most popular brand of liquor sold in Iowa in fiscal year 2022, surpassing Black Velvet, which had held the top spot since fiscal year 2012, according to the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division’s annual report, released Tuesday. Black Velvet slipped to the No. 2 spot, with Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum holding the No. 3 spot for the third consecutive year, the report showed. According to the report, the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division sold nearly 6.5 million gallons of liquor in fiscal year 2022, with 10 counties accounting for more than 66% of statewide sales. The report shows that liquor sales in Iowa topped $431 million, up 3.7% over fiscal year 2021, with more than $150 million allocated to the state’s general fund for use by various state departments and programs, including $1 million to the Iowa Economic Development Authority to promote Iowa breweries and wineries.
