President Joe Biden is nominating Iowa native Alexis Taylor, an Iowa State University graduate and Army veteran, as undersecretary for trade and foreign agricultural affairs for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the administration announced. If confirmed, Taylor would help lead the agency’s trade policy, overseeing and facilitating foreign market access and promoting opportunities for U.S. agriculture. She is currently the Oregon Department of Agriculture’s executive director, a position she was appointed to in 2016 where she oversees the department’s 38 programs and 500 employees.
