Iowa public health officials urge caution as flood cleanup begins
State public health officials say hypothermia cases are rising in parts of the state experiencing historic flooding, reports the Cedar Rapids Gazette. As cleanup efforts begin, the Iowa Department of Public Health is cautioning residents to take steps to stay healthy. Since flooding started early due to snowpack melt and ice jams, officials say there have been more anecdotal evidence of individuals who entered cold water later checking into hospitals with signs of hypothermia.
