Iowa State University is one of five institutions to receive a collective $3.9 million in research grants from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to study resiliency in communities and groups following environmental impacts of natural disasters, the EPA announced this week. ISU received $800,000 through the EPA’s Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Program to research resiliency among vulnerable, older adult communities facing increased exposure risks to wastewater contamination from flooding in Puerto Rico. Other universities receiving grants are Duke University, Texas A&M University, University of California-Los Angeles and University of Florida.
