Iowa stocks’ March performance divided
Nine of the 16 Iowa-based companies on the Business Record’s Iowa Index posted stock price gains for the month of March, three being double-digit percentage gains. Seven stocks had price losses for the month. Two of the seven stocks had double-digit percentage losses.
Art’s Way Manufacturing Co. had the largest gain of the month with a 35.96% increase. United Fire Group Inc. had the second-biggest gain at 12.53%. Workiva Inc. had the third-biggest with a 12.06% increase.
Lee Enterprises Inc. posted the biggest percentage loss at 19.16%. Flexsteel Industries Inc. had the second-biggest loss with a 10.61% decrease. HNI Corp. was third with an 8.95% decrease.
The Iowa Index, an unweighted average price of 16 Iowa-based public companies, increased 2.65% in March, compared with a 3.41% increase in the Nasdaq stock index and a 2.32% increase in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
The Iowa-based companies that make up the Iowa Index are in bold in this list of companies with sizable operations in the state.
