Iowa to promote energy efficient industrial systems
Iowa is one of four states selected by the National Governor’s Association to promote and implement energy efficient industrial systems that use combined heat and power. The systems, also known as cogeneration, generate electricity and useful thermal energy in a single, integrated system. They can convert fuel to electricity and useful heat with much higher efficiency for some businesses. The Iowa Utilities Board and the Iowa Economic Development Authority will participate in a seven-month program that provides them technical expertise, training, and grant money. The program is financed through the U.S. Department of Energy.
