Iowan to lead American Cancer Society

123 wordsAll Latest News, Health and Wellness, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyThe American Cancer Society and its advocacy affiliate the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network announced Iowa State University alumnus Shane Jacobson as the new CEO of both organizations. He will begin this role August 12. Jacobson, who currently serves as CEO of the V Foundation for Cancer Research, will succeed Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, who has been interim CEO since November 2024. According to a news release, Jacobson identified stakeholder engagement and elevating fundraising for effective and maximum mission delivery as his top organizational priorities. In addition, he plans to establish a long-term strategic plan to ensure continued relevancy and impact. Jacobson received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Iowa State and completed the Harvard University Management Development Program.
