Iowans approve of wind energy and the companies that help harness it, according to a survey of 400 would-be voters and 308 likely Republican Iowa caucus-goers. Neil Newhouse of Public Opinion Strategies, which is also polling this year for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, found that 85 percent of respondents had a favorable impression of wind energy and wind power companies. Sixty-two percent said they had a “very favorable” impression. Eight out of 10 respondents said wind energy companies have been good for the state’s economy. “You don’t see numbers like these for anything except mom and apple pie,” said Denise Bode, CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, which commissioned the poll.
