83 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawIowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Mark Schouten will retire May 31. “Over the past seven years, Mark has overseen the state’s response to and recovery from many disasters, including 11 that received presidential disaster declarations,” Gov. Kim Reynolds said in a statement. “I saw firsthand his passion for helping Iowans and their communities get back on their feet after a disaster.” Schouten worked for the state for 14 years, including positions in drug policy and at the attorney general’s office.
