After analyzing population estimates for the state of Iowa from the U.S. census bureau, it appears Iowa’s population by 2030 will have grown 9.88 percent to 3.32 million from 3.02 million in 2010.

Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 59 will have population growth, while 40 will see their populations decrease.

Dallas County’s population is estimated to grow 31.2 percent by 2030, the largest increase of any of Iowa’s counties. Pocahontas County’s population is expected to shrink by 10 percent, the largest decrease of any of Iowa’s counties.

Polk County’s population is estimated to grow 19.5 percent by 2030 to 493,289 from 412,903 in 2010. That is the fifth-highest increase percentage-wise, but the largest increase in terms of total population.
