According to his office, that day — Miller’s 13,520th as the leader of Iowa’s Department of Justice — he will eclipse former Michigan Attorney General Frank Kelley’s mark of having served 37 years and five days. Other Iowa elected officials with similar records: Terry Branstad was the nation’s longest serving governor. And current 10-term state Treasurer Michael Fitzgerald last year became the longest-serving state treasurer.
