The Iowa Board of Regents’ properties and facilities committee next month will consider a proposal to ask the Board of Regents to rename Iowa State University’s Black Cultural Center the “George Jackson Cultural Center” in honor of the late George Jackson. Jackson was director of multicultural student affairs in 1978 and later become the assistant vice president of student affairs. He worked to significantly increase the number of underrepresented students on campus.
