Iowa State University’s Bridge Engineering Center has received a $2.1 million grant for research into how to build bridges faster. Working with the Iowa Department of Transportation and others, ISU hopes to apply research results more quickly. That in turn can mean bridges aren’t closed as long. “It provides an avenue to get the research results out of the universities and into practice very, very quickly,” Brent Phares, bridge center director, said in a statement. The center will partner with Florida International University to conduct the research.
