The Iowa Utilities Board today issued an order requiring all investor-owned electric utilities, municipal and cooperative associations in Iowa and electric transmission company ITC Midwest LLC to file specific information with the IUB regarding a timeline for the total restoration of electric power as a result of the destructive derecho that struck Iowa on Monday. The affected utilities are required to file a morning and afternoon report for each county and municipality that provides a timeline for power restoration, the total number of customers without power by county and community, and the total number of customers whose power was restored in the previous 24 hours. Among other mandates, the order also requires all investor-owned utilities that have customers remaining without power to publish anticipated re-powering information on their websites and social media. The IUB will post and update the information on its website, iub.iowa.gov, and all information filed in docket SPU-2020-0010 will be available to review in the IUB’s electronic filing system.
