Japan crisis weighs on ethanol market

Ethanol futures prices dropped to a seven-week low in Chicago as corn declined on concern that demand from Japan will wane in the wake of the country’s worst earthquake, Bloomberg reported. The average ethanol mill in Iowa is losing 2 cents on every gallon produced, while the typical plant in Illinois is pocketing about 5 cents, according to Ag Trader Talk.
