The Waukee Community School District has named Kirk Johnson, currently associate superintendent, as chief operations officer, effective July 1. The position will encompass an expanded role within the organization and now oversee information technology, nutrition, operations, community education, construction and the overall operational growth of the district, Waukee officials said in a release. Johnson has 14 years of building and district-level school administration experience; he has been associate superintendent since 2016. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business education, a masters in educational administration and a specialist (superintendent) in educational administration. Johnson fills the position vacated by Eric Rose, who resigned in December following criminal charges.
