Gov. Terry Branstad has named JoAnn Johnson superintendent of the Iowa Division of Credit Unions.

Johnson will replace James Forney, who officially resigned on Tuesday, and will fill out the remainder of his term, which ends April 30.

Branstad has submitted Johnson’s name for confirmation as a superintendent for a four-year term beginning May 1.

Johnson was elected to the Iowa Senate in 1994 and was appointed to the National Credit Union Administration in 2002, where she served as chairman from 2004 to 2008.
