Johnston mayor is running to catch up to a promise

105 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Lift IOWAJohnston Mayor Paula Dierenfeld isn’t daunted by the prospect of running 25 to 30 miles a week, but these days she is picking them up and putting them down at the pace of about 10 miles a day as she makes good on a promise to the city’s 17,000 residents, Running World reported. Back in November, Dierenfeld said she would run 1 mile for every bag of groceries, personal care items or $10 donated to Johnston’s food pantry during the month of December. Residents responded in a big way, and as a result, she needs to log 191 miles to make good on her promise.
