U.S. District Judge Stephen Locher said the extension until April 29 will give him time to complete a ruling on whether to more permanently enjoin the Art Center or to allow the deconstruction to proceed. “Greenwood Pond: Double Site” was installed in the 1990s and includes walkways and other structures. The Des Moines Art Center says it has deteriorated such that it threatens public safety and that repairs would be prohibitively expensive. The artist, Mary Miss of New York, sued to try to halt the removal, citing contract provisions requiring her consent.
