June a heavy month for CEO turnover
June was the heaviest CEO turnover month since May 2010, according to the latest report on CEO turnover released yesterday by Challenger, Gray & Christmas.
The consultant group tracked 113 CEO departures in June, a 9.7 increase from the previous month. Challenger has tracked 319 CEO departures in the second quarter, which ended June 30, an 11 percent increase from the first quarter but down from the previous year.
Overall, Challenger has tracked 606 CEO changes for the year, down 10 percent from the 673 recorded in the first six months of 2010. Health care has seen the heaviest turnover for the year, with 89 CEOs leaving so far.
