Kirke looks to Ankeny for casino
The Ankeny City Council will meet in a special session today to consider an agreement to help Gary Kirke’s Wild Rose Entertainment LLC obtain a permit to operate a casino in the city.
Kirke and business partner Michael Richards are considering a casino for land near the interchange of Interstate 35 and Northeast 36th Street.
Earlier this month, Kirke and Richards pulled a request for a zoning change in Urbandale that would have allowed them to develop a casino and convention complex in that city.
Under terms of the agreement, Wild Rose would not seek a state casino permit to operate another casino in Polk, Dallas, Jasper, Story or Warren counties and the city would not cooperate with another entity that wanted to operate a gambling establishment in those counties.
