Klinefeldt to leave post as U.S. attorney

Nicholas Klinefeldt, who was appointed U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Iowa in November 2009, said he will leave that office Nov. 15 to become a partner in the Des Moines office of an international law firm, according to a release. The Southern District is made up of 47 counties and has offices in Des Moines, Council Bluffs and Davenport. Klinefeldt, who has bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Iowa, has practiced white-collar defense law in Boston and civil and criminal law for Ahlers & Cooney P.C.in Des Moines.
