Des Moines Register: An Iowa employee of Deere & Co. filed a labor law complaint against the agricultural and construction equipment manufacturer days before more than 10,000 workers went on strike against the company. According to the National Labor Relations Board, the employee at Deere’s Waterloo Works complained Oct. 9 that Deere had retaliated against at least one worker for discussing “protected concerted activities” like wages and hours. The NLRB said it is investigating the claim. Spokespeople for Deere and United Auto Workers International, who are continuing negotiations as the strike nears the end of its second week, did not return emails seeking comment Monday.
