Lt. Gov. Reynolds praises growth in number of apprentices
Developers have said for months that it is tough to get skilled workers for major projects in the Des Moines area. Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and union officials offered a bit of good news this week: The state’s work and federal programs made Iowa one of the top four states in active apprentice growth between the 2013 and 2014 federal budget years. “As I travel around Iowa, I constantly hear from employers who are in need of a skilled workforce, especially in manufacturing, information technology, STEM and health-related fields,” said Reynolds.
