The 2011 National Main Streets Conference will take place May 22-25 at the Polk County Convention Complex.

More than 1,000 architects, city planners, elected officials and historic preservationists are expected to attend the annual conference, which will focus on the preservation and revitalization of commercial districts.

The 2011 conference will also cover various means of growing downtown areas. Co-hosted by Main Street Iowa, a program of the Iowa Department of Economic Development, the conference will also include four days of educational and networking opportunities.
