Hubbell Realty Co.’s MarketPlace Lofts on Court Avenue in downtown Des Moines has begun leasing apartment units.

The building, which houses 52 units, has already leased 16 apartments, with 14 tenants planning to move in by Jan. 1.

Jarad Bernstein,a Hubbell spokesman, said loft rents range from $700 to $1,275 per month. Half the units in the building are income restricted, with monthly rents ranging from $570 to $795, he said. “There’s a huge demand for this product downtown,” Bernstein said.

Hubbell has had similar success with apartments on Court Avenue. Court Avenue Lofts, the apartments developed above Old Market Spaghetti Works by Hubbell, are 100 percent occupied.
