Des Moines will host a local Twestival (a “Twitter festival”) tonight from 5 to 9 p.m. at Mars Café, 2318 University Ave.

Twestival is a national movement by the Connect the Dots Foundation to raise funds and awareness for local nonprofit organizations by using social media to set up local events, and encouraging participation through Twitter.

Funds raised in Des Moines will support the Evelyn Davis Early Learning Academy. Des Moines is one of more than 100 cities around the world to hold an event today.
