Marsh earnings up 19 percent
Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. reported second-quarter net income of $282 million, a 19 percent increase from $326 million reported in the prior year period. Earnings per share increased 16 percent to 50 cents from 43 cents. Income from continuing operations increased to $286 million, or 50 cents per share, from a loss in the second quarter of 2010. Company officials said each of the company’s four operating companies produced strong growth in revenue and profitability in the second quarter.
