The developer of a regional medical campus planned in Urbandale has entered into an agreement with the city and Macon Realty Co. to create a master plan for a 65-acre tract along Northpark Drive, north of Interstate Highway 80/35, the developer announced.
Dr. John Tentinger, owner of K&J Properties and developer of the campus called Total Health Experience, recently announced plans for the medical campus. The planning agreement details a joint approach to developing a master plan for the land, identifying lots, uses, amenities, parking, infrastructure, long-term sustainability and market feasibility, according to a news release.
K&J Properties and Macon Realty Co. both own land where the medical campus is planned (see map). Des Moines-based Macon Realty, begun in 1932 by Charles Cownie and Harry Marks, bought its parcels over 50 years ago.
“Our family recognizes the significance of this destination concept, and we have patiently waited to partner in its development with someone who shared our vision for creating a centerpiece destination,” Katie Cownie, president of Macon Realty, said in a prepared statement. “Dr. Tentinger’s recently announced Total Health Experience medical campus is a tremendous example of the caliber of facilities we had dreamed of creating for the community’s benefit.”
The medical campus, when completed, is expected to include up to six buildings and up to 300,000 square feet of space. One of the buildings is expected to house a brain health and memory care center planned by Broadlawns Medical Center.
