The Iowa FFA Association and Meals from the Heartland have a goal to package 1 million meals during the 2018-19 school year. A new Hunger Champion contest will encourage chapters to organize a meal packaging event and digitally chronicle their effort. The video theme “Just One” allows chapters to show how they have educated their peers, rallied their community, and led a meal-packaging event. The winner of the contest will be announced at the 2019 Iowa State FFA convention. “The FFA has long been a strong supporter of Meals from the Heartland, and the FFA Hunger Champions Challenge will take our partnership to the next level,” said Georgie Filber, a hunger fight manager with Meals from the Heartland. “We’re excited to see where this leads, and hopefully it will springboard us to launch a similar initiative in neighboring states.”
