Meals from the Heartland packs more than 150,000 meals Monday
In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Meals from the Heartland held an all-day meal packaging event Monday, bringing more than 740 volunteers together to pack 153,144 meals for the hungry. The event was held at the organization’s packaging center in West Des Moines in conjunction with a separate event at the Iowa Events Center, hosted by the YMCA of Greater Des Moines.
