Volunteer mentors are needed for the Post-Secondary Education Retention Program being launched by Iowa Homeless Youth Centers. Beginning this summer, 10 youths will be accepted and enrolled in college through the program, which seeks to increase post-secondary degree completion of at-risk youths. The program, funded by United Way of Central Iowa, includes participation by the students in group study sessions and meetings with a case manager. One-on-one mentors are needed to help participants with schoolwork for one hour per week and eventually provide career advice. The mentorship commitment is for two years.
