Merchants Bonding Co. is celebrating 75 years and four generations as a family-operated business in Des Moines and planned to mark the occasion with several events over the weekend.

E.H. Warner and Merle Milligan founded the company in Des Moines in 1933. Warner’s family still operates the business today, with Chairman Emeritus W.W. Warner still keeping office hours at the age of 89.

Merchants Bonding employs approximately 100 people. In 2008, it was recognized as the 19th-largest surety provider in the nation. The company has offices in Austin, Texas, and Scottsdale, Ariz., and does business in all 50 states.
