MercyOne health care system announced two key executive leadership appointments. Mike Wegner has been named as the regional chief operating officer and the Central Iowa president, after serving in an interim capacity for the past 11 months. Dr. Hijinio Carreon has been named as the regional chief medical officer and the Central Iowa chief operating officer. Carreon has been serving as the interim chief operating officer for Central Iowa and the regional chief medical executive since February 2022.
