MidAmerican purchases stake in solar project
MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co. has completed its acquisition of a 49 percent interest in the Agua Caliente solar project from NRG Energy. Agua Caliente is a 290-megawatt solar project in Yuma County, Ariz., and is projected to produce electricity to power about 100,000 homes per year and offset approximately 222,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. It is scheduled to be completed by 2014, and the first 30-megawatt phase is expected to begin commercial operation today. For more information on the project, click here.
