Miller: Avoid earthquake/tsunami relief scams
Attorney General Tom Miller reminded Iowans to be careful about scam artists taking advantage of generous Iowans who plan to donate to earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan. Miller recommended that Iowans donate to charities with which they’re familiar; avoid responding to unsolicited e-mails or telephone calls; and to check out charities with organizations such as Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org) and the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org.)
