MLK scholarship banquet scheduled Jan. 19
The Des Moines Human Rights Commission will host the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund Banquet on Jan. 19 in Parents Hall at Drake University. The commission will present the Martin Luther King Jr. Vision Award to Dr. Ed Hertko and his wife, Victoria Hertko, for their longtime commitment to young people and leadership and support of minority youths in Iowa. Tickets are $50 each and all proceeds go to further minority students’ education at Iowa institutions of higher learning. For reservations, email desmoines.mlkscholarship@gmail.com.
