More outdoor pianos returning this summer
City Sounds: The Des Moines Public Piano Project will increase the number of pianos placed in public areas in the metro area this year. Ten pianos — two more than last year — will be installed beginning May 21. The two extra pianos will be placed in Valley Junction and downtown Windsor Heights. Locations were chosen so people can bike or walk to several pianos in one trip, said Kathryn Dickel, chairwoman of the board. A map of piano locations can be found here.
