More people than first estimated will pay health-care penalty

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that roughly 2 million more Americans will pay penalties under President Obama’s health-care law for lacking insurance than had previously been estimated, CNNMoney reported. Under the law, Americans must be insured starting in 2014 or pay a penalty assessed on their tax returns. The most recent estimate from the CBO boosts the number of people who will pay the penalty to 6 million from 4 million. The tax is expected to total $285 per family in 2014.
