Obama’s economic report focuses on income inequality
The New York Times: President Obama on Thursday stepped up his efforts to define which economic problems need urgent attention. The 2015 Economic Report of the President focuses squarely on the challenges of rising income inequality and stagnant wages for average families. The need for “middle-class economics” dominates its 414 pages.
FDA knew devices spread fatal ‘superbug’ but did not order fix
Reuters: U.S. health regulators have known since at least 2009 that the medical devices at the center of a “superbug” outbreak at UCLA can transmit lethal infections but have not recommended any new safety requirements, a lapse that threatens patient safety. The latest outbreak involving the reusable devices called duodenoscopes may have exposed 179 patients at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles and contributed to two deaths.
