From July 23-26, members of AMBUCS, a national nonprofit service organization, will gather at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown for the organization’s annual national conference. AMBUCS, with more than 3,800 members in 36 states, provides Amtryke adaptive tricycles, scholarships for future therapists and supports local service projects for people with disabilities. Attendees will participate in educational sessions, engage in community-building activities and enjoy special celebrations honoring the organization’s impact. The conference will also include two free events open to the Des Moines community:

• 20th Annual Trek 4 Trykes Walk-A-Thon, Saturday, July 26, 7:30-9 a.m., Des Moines Marriot Downtown Hotel. AMBUCS members and the community are invited to walk, jog, or roll in a 5K.
• Great Amtryke Giveaway, Saturday, July 26, 1-3:30 p.m., Des Moines Marriot Downtown Hotel. The national conference will culminate in the Great Amtryke Giveaway, where National AMBUCS will award 25 adaptive Amtrykes to beneficiaries in Greater Des Moines who have been identified by local therapists.
