The Nationwide Insurance Foundation has committed $400,000 to Children & Families of Iowa (CFI), the first major gift to that organization’s Building Futures capital campaign. The money will help pay for improvements to the nonprofit’s Domestic Violence Center. “CFI’s Domestic Violence Center provides a vital safe haven for victims of domestic violence as they move toward a life that is free of violence,” said Jeff Rommel, a senior vice president with Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. “We hope other companies and individuals in the Des Moines community will support the Building Futures capital campaign and the important work of Children & Families of Iowa.” Improvements to the shelter are slated to include a new roof and a new heating, cooling and ventilation system. CFI has set a fund-raising goal of $3.4 million.
