Nationwide donates $50,000 for disaster relief
To assist victims of the tornado that swept through Joplin, Mo., last month, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation announced today an additional $50,000 donation to support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. To date, Nationwide has announced grants totaling a half million dollars to aid victims of tornadoes in North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Missouri. In early 2011, the Nationwide Insurance Foundation trustees approved a grant for $1,050,000 to the American Red Cross, with $700,000 going to the National Disaster Relief Fund and $350,000 going to 18 chapters across the country. The grant announced today brings the company’s total support for Red Cross disaster relief efforts to $1,550,000 in 2011.
