New president and CEO named at Special Olympics Iowa

Gary Harms, a longtime Greater Des Moines business leader and member of the Special Olympics Iowa board of directors, has been named president and CEO of the organization. Harms was chosen after an extensive national search, according to a news release. Harms previous was the agency administration vice president at Farm Bureau Financial Services for nine years. He also serves on the board of the Iowa chapter of the American Heart Association and volunteers at Camp Sunnyside. He started with Special Olympics Iowa last month.
