Des Moines-based nonprofit Back 2 School Iowa announced it has signed a Name, Image and Likeness partnership with Jayden McGregory, a West Des Moines Valley football player. McGregory will serve as the lead community ambassador for the nonprofit’s 20th annual Back 2 School Bash. The partnership is the first NIL deal with a high school student in Iowa. The Back 2 School Bash, on Aug. 17 at Evelyn K. Davis Park, will offer free school supplies to 1,200 students, 10,000 perishable food items, free hair cuts, a community resource fair and more. “Growing up in Des Moines, I understand the importance of community support and education,” McGregory said in a news release. “The Back 2 School Bash has been a vital resource for so many families over the years. I’m proud to partner with Back 2 School Iowa to highlight that this event … [is] about providing essential resources, building confidence, and showing every student that their community believes in them.” McGregory, a senior, plans to play football at the University of Louisville.
