A group of Des Moines-area investors has purchased property on the city’s east side that includes parcels that were once home to Townsend Engineering, Polk County real estate records show. 

Crawford Creek LLC, BGE Holdings LLC and Leelou Properties LLC paid 2425 Hubbell LLC $3.2 million for the property located at 1420 and 1428 E. 25th St. and 2425 and 2449 Hubbell Ave. in Des Moines.

The 5.5 acres at 2425 Hubbell Ave. include a 130,078-square-foot manufacturing, warehouse and office building constructed in 1979. The structure had been occupied by Townsend Engineering, a manufacturer of meat-processing equipment that was founded in 1946. In 2005, the company was sold to Stork Food Systems, based in the Netherlands.

Two years later, according news reports, Marel Food Systems acquired Stork Food Systems. In 2015, Marel closed the manufacturing facility at 2425 Hubbell Ave.

In 2016, 2425 Hubbell Ave LLC, affiliated with Complete Cleaning, purchased the property for $2.2 million, records show.

The property at 2425 Hubbell Ave. is valued at $3.85 million; the undeveloped 0.33 acre at 2449 Hubbell Ave. is valued at $62,100; property at 1420 E. 25th St. that includes a single-family house is valued at $83,100; and property at 1428 E. 25th St. is valued at $96,000.

Polk County real estate records show that Townsend Engineering sold those parcels to Stork Food Systems for $7.2 million.

The most recent transaction was recorded Feb. 22.

A California investment group has purchased property in Grimes that includes a facility occupied by Ryko Manufacturing, a manufacturer of car wash systems, records show. 1500 SE 37th ST Owner LLC, which is affiliated with FRE Fund Investors based in San Francisco, paid USIP III (Des Moines) LLC $13.3 million for the property located at 1500 S.E. 37th St. in Grimes, records show. The 26-acre parcel includes a 236,693-square-foot facility constructed in 1972. The property includes several other smaller buildings as well. The property is valued at $5.96 million. The transaction was recorded Feb. 25.

BN Properties LLC, located in Des Moines, paid D&M Partners LLC $1.8 million for property at 4768 N.E. 20th Lane in Polk County, records show. The transaction was recorded Feb. 25.

Dallas County
William Fox Farm Co. paid William and Kathryn Atcheson $1.4 million for property at 3307 Ashworth Road in Waukee, records show. The 9.75-acre parcel includes a single-family house constructed in 2005. The transaction was recorded Feb. 22.

Hubbell Realty Co., doing business as HRC NW Waukee LLC, paid Waukee Crossing LLC $2.26 million for 15 acres on the southeast corner of Northwest Sunrise Drive and North 10th St. in Waukee, records show. The property is east of land the West Des Moines-based company purchased in January. The most recent transaction was recorded Feb. 24.
