But the Iowa Association of School Boards and its executive director, Lisa Bartusek, want to remind us that May is School Board Recognition Month — who knew? — and that Iowans can thank the 2,000-plus people statewide who are elected and serve on these panels.
“These locally elected citizens oversee billions in educational expenditures, develop policies and make critical decisions that impact their entire community,” the association explained in a release.
IASB has a toolkit to help.
The association is a nonprofit organization representing Iowa’s 333 public school districts, nine area education agencies and 15 community colleges.
