At the Monetery Tech Summit May 21, organizers promoted lunch to a memorable, stand-alone session. Dwolla organizers loaded five coach buses’ worth of Monetery attendees to take us across the city for lunch — and attendees had no hint of which restaurant (Eatery A, Alba, Django, Harbinger or St. Kilda) their bus was headed to. While covering Monetery for innovationIOWA, I found myself at Django’s, seated next to a mix of people I did and didn’t know, and it inspired one of the most interesting networking conversations I’ve ever had. (If you’re sitting at the dinner table with strangers, “What’s the worst job you’ve ever had” turned out to be a pretty fun ice breaker. Props to my table mate for creativity.)
